Kiwi vs ChatGPT: An Assistant That Texts You First

ChatGPT is the AI most people have tried. You open the app, ask a question, and get an answer. It's brilliant at writing, explaining and thinking things through.

Kiwi is a different kind of AI. It doesn't wait for you to ask. It notices what needs doing, texts you first, and does it when you say yes. And it lives in your messages, not in another app.

The short version: use ChatGPT when you want to think something through. Use Kiwi when you want things done without having to remember them.

Facts about ChatGPT are from OpenAI's own pages and its 29 September 2026 announcement, checked on 12 October 2026.

Kiwi goes first

With ChatGPT, every conversation starts with you. You have to remember the flight, the reply you're waiting for, the bill that's due, and then go and ask.

Kiwi keeps an eye on your calendar and email, and comes to you, once, at the right time:

Marta just replied about your deposit, like you asked. She's sending the €1,200 back on Monday. Want me to remind you on Tuesday to check it arrived?

You reply "yes please", and it's done. That's the difference: you don't have to remember to ask.

It lives in your messages

ChatGPT lives in its own app. Kiwi lives where you already are: iMessage on an iPhone, WhatsApp on any phone. No new app to open, no new habit to build. It feels like texting someone who's very good at getting things done.

It does the whole thing

Kiwi doesn't just tell you how to book the ride. It books it. It orders dinner, reserves the table, replies to the email and cancels the subscription, on any app or website, as soon as you say yes. Anything that costs money shows its price first, and Kiwi only says something is booked once the company confirms it.

What about OpenAI's Dots?

In September 2026, OpenAI announced Dots, always-on agents inside ChatGPT. They're part of ChatGPT Pro, which starts at $100 a month, and Business Premium, and you reach them in ChatGPT, Slack or Teams. At launch they weren't offered to Pro subscribers in the UK, Switzerland or the European Economic Area.

Kiwi gives you an always-on assistant for free, in the messaging apps you already use every day.

Price

ChatGPT has a free plan, and paid plans at $8 (Go), $20 (Plus) and from $100 a month (Pro). Kiwi is free to use. When it books something for you, you pay the company directly, at the price Kiwi showed you first. See Is Kiwi free?

Can I use both?

Yes, and plenty of people will. ChatGPT for writing and big questions. Kiwi for the everyday things that pull you back to your phone: the ride, the reply, the booking, the reminder you'd have forgotten.
